~Spring is Here~

Warm weather, green grass, perennials peeking from the gardens, birds chirping and to add a cherry on top of the whip cream....I have the pleasure of Spring Cleaning! Now, it may not seem like much fun to some, but for me, I love to open the windows, turn on my favorite music, and with bucket and mop in hand, I dance through the house!

This week, linens are on my list. During the winter, I collected beautiful vintage dresser scarves, table clothes, sweet Southern Belle pillowcases, Damask napkins, handkerchiefs, bed covers, aprons, etc....

I've been looking forward to preparing them for placement in the shop. I love to treat each piece for spots, gently hand wash them, then lay the linens on the grass to naturally bleach each treasure. This may sound strange, but I love to iron! Only vintage items, mind you..lol! I spritz each piece with Egyption Cotton, as I iron, the scent in the air is scrumptious!

Stop by the shop when you have a chance, I've listed many linen treasures already, and have a ton more to follow~ You'll also find more pretties in each category! Take a Peek...

My sweet Michelle,

I know what you mean...it's the best when you can open up the windows, turn up the music and begin the spring cleaning! Seriously, after all the cold, closed-up winter months, it's the open windows that make it seem like fun for me!

Keep the pretties coming sis, I so enjoy shopping at your gorgeous store!

By the way, is that a hamper there next to that shelf???

Love ya bunches,
Sue XOXOXOXOXO

Hi Michele, Just stopping by to say Hi. Hi! :) I don't care for ironing but I do enjoy taking care of the wonderful old linens I find and my little dresses. Spring cleaning....not so much. Opening the windows around here is hazardous to your health right now. There are just clouds of yellow pollen whirling around. I think I have said this before but it bears repeating. Your website is so gorgeous and so you~ Pink Hugs, Lynn

Oh Michelle,
I love to iron, too. I've noticed several of your blog guests do too. And here I thought it was a lost art....The smell of the fabric, the feel of the cloth, the glide of the iron kind of gives ya warm fuzzies. Ooooh, I better get busy and get my linens done. You have inspired me today. You are so much fun on the forums. Bitsy says Hi, Auntie Michelle.

Hi Michelle,

I love your website! I found so many nice goodies in there. Gonna add you to my favourites, because I got a feeling I might be able to draw some inspiration to make something into miniatures from you someday!

Hi Michelle!

I'm with you. I love to open the windows, get my bucket and mop and start scrubbing everything down to get rid of anything left over from winter's closed up feeling. This year I started in the garage and I'm working my way IN from outside. I started on the back deck this week and got it powerwashed and I'm sanding it, getting it ready for a new coat of stain.

I have three boxes of linens that I collected over the winter that I need to treat and iron. Oh, you are so far ahead of me! It will be May already before I get to them. :(

I just love your shop and that photo of the pink rose with aqua leaves has me intrigued. I must go visit your site right now!

Your sister only lives a couple of hours from me. What a small world!

xoxo!

Michelle,
I'm sorry to have to inform you that I have been forced to tag you. I didn't want to do it. They made me do it. You know who "they" are, don't you? Well, if I didn't tag you, they were going to do unspeakable things to me until I did. Since I do not like to have unspeakable things done to me, like bamboo shoots under the fingernails, I have been forced to tag you.

Please go to my blog and see the questions you must answer.

This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds.

Poof!

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the Mother's Day wishes. I stopped by your blog and read your post about beautiful linens. My mother passed away in January and I took the majority of her linens and did pretty much the same thing you did. I love washing and ironing those old pieces and letting the memories flood back of times we used them. Many of them she embroidered or crocheted herself so they have special memories for me. I have a question for you though. What do you use to spot treat and what exactly is Egyptian Cotton? I have Egyptian Cotton linens of my own but is there a fragrance called Egyptian cotton? Where would I get some?

Have a wonderful Mother's Day too Michelle. My children, alas do not live close to me either so I guess a phone call will have to do. I do not drive anymore so getting somewhere is a challenge for me. I hope you have a very happy day.

I ironed pretty little dresses all day yesterday and watched Lifetime movies one right after another...It was the best day...
