I've been MIA for a bit, working in my studio, freshening my shop with a new look, didn't have internet connection for over a week, eeek!! etc...

But the biggest reason for being MIA recently is......I've been preparing for the arrival of my Sweet BF Cathy Scalise, you all know her from Treasured Heirlooms~Elegance & Whimsy!!! Cathy hails from the amazing New England area, and flies to West Virginia twice a year for a week at a time to spend it with little ole me! I'm truly a lucky gal!!

I love when Cathy visits, we shop, shop, shop, eat at great restaurants, laugh, talk business, and laugh some more! She's such a refreshing change from my day to day~same old, same old!!! I always say, Cathy brings sunshine with her when she visits..lol!

The first day Cathy arrived, we drove straight home from the airport to be greeted by a satellite technician.. thank goodness!! My internet has been out since last Sunday, and I was in a panic. What kind of a hostess would I have been if I couldn't provide internet service to my guest/BF!!? My internet is now fixed, phew!! And since Friday, it's been non stop shopping for us... It's rather funny to watch us..when we enter a shop filled with vintage pretties, both of us look at each other and begin to squeal!! We've traveled through tiny shops in Maryland, Va and even enjoyed browsing through the little shops in my area too~ I've taken a few pics of our fun today and couldn't wait to upload them for my post tonight... But to my dismay, none of the photos are salvageable...Boo~Hoo!! I will post pics of our shopping ventures though, I promise! We'll be out almost everyday while she visits, so I should get some great pics, fingers crossed~

In the meantime, I have to show off some of Cathy's latest creations that are featured in her shops... Aren't they stunning!!

I'm Feelin the Love!!

Oh Spring... Sweet Spring!!

This time of year, there's a sweetness that can't be matched to any other. New life is sprouting up everywhere! The buds on trees are making an appearance, mama birds are preparing their nest for new hatchlings, and flowers are beginning to awaken from their long winter sleep.

I am feeling the excitement stirring within too.. What is this peculiar feeling I'm experiencing?? My senses are awakening...

I find I'm giggling with my hubby over things that just a few months ago, would have either gone unnoticed or warranted a 'slight Ha~Ha' at best.. and wait, what is this?? Did my hubby just toss a coy smile in my direction and ask me out for a dinner date? Yes, yes, it's true, romance is in the air! After almost 25 years together, Spring has once again performed her magic and sprinkled love dust in our eyes!!... ahhh, to be in love is the 'bestest'!! lol!

Love and romance is spilling over, in all aspects of my life. I noticed these sweet effects have influenced my newest creations, they reflect the enchantment, and exhilaration that fills my heart.

I'm squealing!! Lollishops has a new look!!!

I received an email announcing Lollishops "new look" yesterday. With my interest peaked... I quickly scooted over to see! Oh my gosh, I love it!!!

Sadie Lou is an amazing artist, and the founder of Lollishops ~ The sweetest marketing venue EVER!!.

She's continuously looking for new ways to show off the talented artists that reside at Lollishops... Well sir! Sadie has done it again!!

Being a 'Lolli' means so much to me!!

You see, I love creating, I have all of my life. After opening my shop, 'Rose Petals & Blooms' I focused all of my attention towards vintage items with all the Shabby~Cottage appeal I adored. That was all well and good, and satisifying at the moment, but I wasn't creating! ... Then I discovered Lollishops. Sadie Lou was taking applications for artists to join her sweet organization. Everyone was buzzing about the new venue, Lollishop buttons were everywhere I looked! Oh how I wanted to join! But, I'll admit, I was afraid I wouldn't be chosen, since I didn't have a 'creation 1' on my site that would deem me worthy of acceptance. Heck.. none of my creations were in my boutique!! I took a leap though and applied! Oh thank goodness Sadie saw my potential! She was quick to send my acceptance to Lollishops and I'm forever thankful for that! She didn't make me sweat bullets waiting for a reply either! Phew!! I'm so neurotic...lol!!

I can thank Sadie for inspiring me to begin creating again! She is responsible for Rose Petals & Blooms new life... I will always add vintage items to my shop, I simply adore them. But move over vintage, cuz now vintage has a twist!! I've added my own 'one of a kind' creations, using vintage bits and bobbles.

Being a vendor on Lollishops has motivated me to step up my game. Sadie and the other amazing artists at Lollishops inspire me daily. Now, everyday my mind is filled with new ideas for another creation! I love it!!!

Thank you Sadie for recognizing my potential and having faith in me, when my faith faltered!!

I've spent another week on the playground, and I'm having a ball!

Since becoming smitten with the promise of Spring, I can't seem to take anything seriously, aside from playing in my studio and my shop.... All I want to do is create!! Much to the chagrin of my hubby, I should add... He's actually taking it pretty well. Although, lately, our dialog has gone something like this..

Hubby says...."Baby, not that I'm judging, but... are those the same pj's I saw you in two days ago?" "Baby...I don't mean to bother you, but that pile has sat at the door for over a week, do you want me to do something with it?" Baby... are the dishes in the diswasher clean or dirty?" "We ran out of silverware and glasses at least two days ago.."

Then hubby calls out to me last night, as I was blissfully creating in my little cubby/studio... "Hey baby, it's time to eat!" I unenthusiastically, pull myself away from my table, grumbling under my breath, that I only needed a few more minutes, and just maybe he could eat without me...

Stumbling into the kitchen, I thanked him for preparing dinner, saying..."Awww... Sweetie, that was so nice of you to make dinner tonight!" and he said..."Somebody needed to cook, we'd starve if I waited for you to make a meal"..

Okay everyone, did that last comment have a ring of sarcasm, to it?? Yea... I thought so too...oh well, he's probably right... So what's his point?? lol!!

I have tunnel vision and can't look two feet, past my creations. I'll tolerate a few cobwebs and boxes piling up in a corner any old day. As long as I can view them from my studio, "It's all good"....

I'm 55 going on 6...

Yes, I've managed to go back in time and want to stay that way for as long as I can... It's crazy how bright aqua blue, sweet pinks, darling yellows, chicks, peeps, bunnies, rabbits and oodles of sugar glitter can turn you into a child again.. Add colorful vintage millinery flowers, adorable miniature hats, decorated eggs, dear little lambs, precious baskets and you just might find yourself giggling and a lilt in your step!

I sincerely have Easter Fever!!

Yep! I do! My studio is bright and bubbly with Spring color.

The floor, tables and every corner is oozing with yumminess!!!

Thank goodness for coffee!!

Let me explain the subject line~

You see, I was one of the lucky vendors to be in a Lollishop ad for the upcoming Spring issue of "Somerset Studios", the theme is beach/mermaid. Well...for whatever reason, I experienced the absolute worst "creative block", in the history of my creative blocks! lol! For the life of me, I couldn't find inspiration if it was right in front of me for a beach project!

Generally, when I feel like creating, I just wander into my studio. Then as I sit and stare at the piles and piles of materials in every corner and shelf, usually something jumps out at me and an idea is born. I think I put so much pressure on myself this time, when I knew it had to be beachy, that my brain turned to mush! tee hee..

After putting this project off for weeks, I was getting down to the wire, there was a deadline for a photo of the project and I was cutting it close, 3 days left...eeeeeeek! The morning I knew there was no time left to procrastinate, I wearily pulled my "slug like body" into the kitchen to prepare the strongest coffee, in hopes that it would jolt a beach theme from my brain. I was low on coffee filters and what few I had were a bit stretched out from my haphazard way of tossing them back into the cupboard. As I tried to reshape one for the coffee pot, I had a revelation... Hey, this one "kind of" looks like a clam shell! Voila!!! Just when you least expect it, an idea appears!! LOL!!

So, a short story turned very long, here is my rendition of the beach theme, introducing...

Now, as "Pearl" rests upon her sweet bed, I'll go back to my studio and wait for new inspiration...

Be my Valentine

I'm in love with vintage candy boxes! I discovered this sweet box, that long ago, was filled with chocolate confections... I added vintage cabbage Rose Barkcloth, 2 millinery floral sprays dating from 1940. Also, a creamy white rose, the edges of the box are decorated with vintage venice lace... I think it's definitely a treat for the eyes! lol...

Sweet Clare

I was inspired to create this adorable vanity lamp from the old cottage dressers of the past....
As I hand crafted her from clay and wood, she began to take on her own sweet personality, and I named her Clare...
She is adorned with vintage drawer pulls, and turned legs. The framed cabbage roses, french perfume bottle and sweet dresser tray are created from clay! I love the top drawer, leaving it opened a bit with a piece of vintage lace gives this little gem oodles of character~
The shade was discovered in a little antique shop, just in her wire form.. I covered the shade in the softest pale pink chiffon with white chiffon inside. She is topped with fabric roses from the same chiffon and sweet ruffles dance along her edge...

I'm finishing another vintage candy box today, and will also be adding gorgeous 3D german Valentine cards dating from 1900 in other creations throughout the weekend~

My Goodness Time Really Does Fly!!

The last time I looked at the clock, it was December! What in the world happened! Has time been in warp mode for anyone else?? I spend all of my waking hours in my studio, and forget there is an outside world!

Apparently, my hubby spent unneccessary energy logging the hours I spend in my home and studio, in comparison to the amount of my "outside time." Okay, so the scales tipped incredibly heavy to my home time, alright, so he discovered that I'm a mole, so what's his point! lol... Unless I need supplies for my craft, what reason is there to leave? I'm not a fan of the cold, so until he cuts off my heat, and I have to spend quality time in my van to keep warm... me thinks I'll be content, and cuddly warm in my studio.

I'm crafting new holiday goodies for Valentines Day, and can't wait to show them off to you. But in the meantime, I thought I would tickle your interest with just a few newly acquired vintage "Valentine Pretties" that have, or will be incorporated into my designs. I adore Valentines and Easter, they give me a renewed spirit as I create. Love, romance & whimsy are such great inspirations for my art! I'm excited to add new product in my boutique, on Lollishops, Make Mine Pink & Etsy, stay tuned in the next few weeks, there will be new and different for each boutique~

I'm going back to my studio and continue to create, I will check on the outside world again in a few days.... I hope you are doing what you love, I know I am~ smile.....

I'm having so much fun on Flickr.. apparently, I can click onto a photo and have the option of blogging it!! Who would have thunk it! tee-hee! So I thought I would break this in, by featuring my newest creation.. "Sweet Elizabeth" from my Winter Wonderland Collection. I'm sorry to say (but am torn, because I'm happy to say too!) that Sweet Elizabeth has been sold! But I still want to show off my treasures.. She is truly "one of a kind", I know this because I've tried to find another frame that even resembles this one, to no avail! Adding vintage goodies has brought my vision to reality.

I like to show my other creations on this post, but I'm thinking Flickr doesn't give me the option to add more than one photo at a time to an entry, so I'll guess I'll be satisfied if this works! I'm excited to click "Post Entry" so I can see how it looks~ Fingers crossed!~

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas....

The thought of Christmas has put a smile on my face and a skip in my step, and thank goodness for that!

After visiting my grandson Jack, I caught his cold, then kept it two weeks.

With the cold came over a week of fevers, sheer exhaustion, a good old fashion depression....and a large dose of anxiety. Well, maybe I shouldn't call it depression,

I prefer the word melancholy better...I wanted to feel better two days into the cold, I'm sure you know how that is...

I was already behind preparing my shop for the holidays, and I

had a ton of ideas swirling in my head for my Christmas Collection,

but not a bit of energy to follow through.. I wish I would have written down all of the fantastic ideas that came to me when my fevers were at their highest, lol..! I would be rich right now!

My sofa became my best friend in those two weeks, and I found

a new purpose for my ottoman! tee-hee! My ottoman became my

work table, I was just too exhausted to be in my studio. My new

little work station is filled with my glue gun, papers, jewelry,

maribou fur, glitter, glitter...and more glitter.

So, in the end, my fevers have subsided, the antibiotics kicked in

and I managed to create a sweet Altered Art Christmas tabletopper, and the most adorable Tussie Mussie ornaments if I say so myself~

Also....as I'm sure you've already noticed, I created a new blog
banner in keeping with the Holidays and winter season.

I can't tell you how blessed I feel! My heart is overwhelming with sheer joy, and I want to thank all of you that have taken time from your crazy schedules to help a friend out! I've gone from "TEPID" waters to "ALMOST BOILING" at "Start Up Nation", because of your votes.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm very shy when it comes to asking for help, I certainly love giving to my friends, but I'm not so great in the "taking" department.. You're support and generosity has taught me a wonderful lesson, in the future,I won't be fearful of simply asking, after all, what is the worst that will happen!? lol..

The "Startup Nation" competition is ongoing through October, you may vote for each contestant once a day. So, if you have a millisecond in your day....lol, please help drive my meter to the "boiling point".

I spent well over a month on a project that proved to be very valuable

time wasted, that I could have utilized in a much more positive way...

Though the project was a bust, and is definitely ready for the burn pile,

I've learned from the mistakes I made, which will certainly help me in the future.

Have you ever had a project in your head that seemed so amazing, one of those special 'one of a kind', and drop dead gorgeous projects to boot,

just to see the end results were so off the mark? It perplexes me to say the least!!

So, back to the drawing board..

I'm ready to begin creating my new collection for Christmas and the

much anticipated opening of Lollishops.

I will devote all my time to my webshop and my creations...

After all, my ad will be featured in Romantic Homes in the October Issue

and I need my new collection finished and listed soon.

Oh if I could have known the outcome of my latest disasterous creation,

I could have saved myself the endless hours, sleepless nights and put my

materials to better use... coulda-shoulda-woulda! Isn't it priceless?!

Lesson learned~

Stop by my shop if you have a chance, I discovered quite a few gorgeous

treasures on the way home from a weekend trip and will be listing them all this week..

I've been Tagged!

Jennifer from Cottage Flair has tagged me to tell you seven things about myself,

so here goes....

1. I can turn my eyelids inside out, and with a bit of embarrassment, will admit I taught my children and my oldest granddaughter how to. And truth be told, I will teach my two grandsons the trick, just as soon as they are old enough!

2. I break out in hives the moment my stress level starts to rise... not so pretty when you're scratchin to beat the band~

3. I have a love for hotels, I could stay in one every night, it makes me feel like a queen to order room service. Not so strange, until I mention I've booked a room when I know it would only take me 40 minutes to arrive home. Yea, I've got the fever!

4. I live in my pj's most of the week, I will do anything to not leave my home... I don't have phobia's, just a touch of laziness.

5. I love credit cards, to a fault, finally paid all five of them off, and will keep only one. Boo-hoo~

6. I adore StarBucks and will defend it to the death..lol!

7. I put off shaving my legs until I can braid them.. alright, I may be exagerating a bit, but I do what I can to avoid it at all costs. pssst.. the longer they get, the softer they become..hee-hee!

I was so thrilled to be a part of

Make Mine Pink's Secret Sister Event

I'm excited to announce, I received my Secret Sister Package!! I speak with a happiness in my heart and actual tears in my eyes. My Secret Sister is so amazing, I will never be able to express my absolute delight and excitement I feel! Thanks to my Secret Sister, and her beautiful gifts, I have a plan implemented.

Carol from "Clutterbug Studio" is my Secret Sister, she created these gorgeous gifts. She is truly a talented artist! Everything she created screams "ME"... I would like to "feature" each beautiful item... I'm such a lucky Lady!!!!

Let me show you how beautiful these gifts were wrapped! With my favorite Robin's Egg Blue Ribbon~ I squealed as I unwrapped each, here they are!

I opened the first box inside there was an organza pouch filled with push pins for the vision board, one even had my initial on it! Plus a Robin's Egg Blue & White votive candle!

A Beautiful French Journal!

The most beautiful embellished bottle with Robin's Egg Blue Glitter inside! With a yummy heart plaque decorated with sweet flowers, glitter and pearl buttons!

An amazing Wall Hook, made from recycled wood work, with a splash of my favorite blue on a distressed hook.. And there's even a beautiful ivory rope to hang it from!

If you believe it couldn't get any better... I would like to show you the most amazing Vision Board, I've ever had the pleasure of seeing... And I own it!!!! The detail is truly a work of art! The vintage frame is so ornate, my Secret Sister added vintage Bark Cloth, sweet blue satin ribbon, a vintage "Best Wishes" greeting card and a push pin with my initial on it!! And if that wasn't enough, she finished it with a beautiful tasseled rope to hang it....You will gasp when you see it!!!

Now you can vision what my home will look like! Thanks to my Awesome Secret Sister! Each gift would bring me a ton of "Ooh's and Ahh's" if I were to discover them in a shop.

Show and Tell Monday

Make Mine Pink

Since returning from my buying trip a few weeks ago, I've had a ton of projects that prevented me from posting about my super

duper trip! I'm so excited to show everyone my newest treasures!

My sweet hubby and I had the most wonderful time on this trip, he kept me going when I would complain of my sore tootsies, and achy bones...

His favorite line was.."Suck it up little girl, and keep shopping!"

I have to give him credit, he walked miles, toted humongous pieces of

furniture, haggled with prices, all the while donning a smile on his face.

After all, it wasn't just a buying trip, it was my "Birthday weekend". He treated like a princess, breakfast in bed every morning, then he would spend that time going over the itinerary with me for my goal that day.

It was such a divine trip, I wanted to share with you some of the goodies

my poor hubby had to tote! lol... never once complaining~ They're listed

in my boutique, (under the "Comforts of Home" category)

I'm so happy that the much anticipated "Springtime in Paris"

Pink Friday's, hosted by "Make Mine Pink" has finally arrived!

It's been a hectic week for me, I've spent many hours in my studio,

with glitter flying, clay "a molding", brushes soaking in my tried and

true jelly glass... (only the best for me! The glass has a quilted design,

which gives it that Oooh La-La...oh~so rich look..lol!)

Unfortunately, all of the long hours spent creating, are not completely

reflected in the products I've listed for this awesome event....

Please don't get me wrong, I'm very proud of the gorgeous Paris themed

products that I'm presenting today... how could I not!

The unusual beaded tassels, that I discovered on my last buying trip

was such a grand surprise for me, I remember oohing and ahhing when

I saw them. Plus, I'm so in love with Spaghetti Poodles, all sizes

and colors, they're perfection!

The products I've created for today's event are still unfinished. I've hit snags on each creation, lol...

Okay, not so funny yesterday, nor the day before, but I do have a sense of humor, and can find irony in the events leading up to today~ Whenever I'm in need of outside help for a project, it brings my stress level up a notch. "What do you mean you don't have it ready?" I ask in amazement. "I need it for Pink Friday."

Each time I made that statement, I was met with stares.. you know the kind, as if I had three heads.

Belated Monday Show & Tell
Make Mine Pink

I'm dealing with computer issues, which prevented me from

posting on Monday, but it looks as if I'll sneak this post in before

losing internet again! Dreaded satellite! It's killing me! Yea!

I've been so busy creating a lamp as a donation for the

"Romantic Homes" book signing, and I haven't seen the light

of day for over a week.. We've had storms to beat the band for

days, so it really didn't matter what my gardens looked like in my

opinion. When my hubby came into my studio this morning and

remarked that I needed to get some fresh air, that the sun was

shining and the flowers on the wisteria would be spent if I didn't

notice them soon, I knew I needed to take a peek. I couldn't believe

how green, lush and beautiful everything looked! I realized the

Purple and White Hesperis were up and in full bloom, and my

Wisteria was covered with Purple clusters.

Where have I been?? In a cave??

I waited until this evening to take photos of my sweeties, knowing how

lush and green everything looks when the sun goes down.

So I decided I would capture my moment and post them tonight. Now,

if I get so busy in the studio, I can at least visit my blog and be

reminded that there is another world out there.

~Spring is Here~

Warm weather, green grass, perennials peeking from the gardens, birds chirping and to add a cherry on top of the whip cream....I have the pleasure of Spring Cleaning! Now, it may not seem like much fun to some, but for me, I love to open the windows, turn on my favorite music, and with bucket and mop in hand, I dance through the house!

This week, linens are on my list. During the winter, I collected beautiful vintage dresser scarves, table clothes, sweet Southern Belle pillowcases, Damask napkins, handkerchiefs, bed covers, aprons, etc....

I've been looking forward to preparing them for placement in the shop. I love to treat each piece for spots, gently hand wash them, then lay the linens on the grass to naturally bleach each treasure. This may sound strange, but I love to iron! Only vintage items, mind you..lol! I spritz each piece with Egyption Cotton, as I iron, the scent in the air is scrumptious!

I would like to introduce, Joyce Lucas. This lovely lady is probably the most influential force in my life... She is the epitomy of compassion, conviction, ethics and success. Without her guidence I would still be floundering in virtual web land without purpose or meaning..

Joyce and her lovely organization, Make Mine Pink, took me under her wing with the strength and tenderness that only a nurturing soul could do. Her commitment and dedication to me and the hundreds of members from MMP is unequaled. She sacrifices long hours of herself for the betterment of her members, all the while never asking herself or others....

What about me?

It brings great joy to my heart to say, that Country Living Magazine has recognized Joyce Lucas for her impeccable professionalism and success in the workplace. On March 15, 2008 Country Living will be presenting an award for "Entrepreneur of the Year" to Joyce. I am so proud and feel privileged to have the opportunity to join Joyce, and many other wonderful MMP members to witness this grand achievement! Thoughts of Sweet Baby Jack...

The drive to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA for baby Jack's surgery tomorrow will be a long one. I've thought of nothing else for weeks, worrying about this sweet baby, and tomorrow came too soon. It's a scary surgery and he's so little, if I'm this worried, I can't imagine what Mommy & Daddy are feeling.

I love winter, not for the bitter cold days, or the endless "white out's" from snowstorms.. but for the sense of cozy I feel during these long months. It doesn't matter what the weather is outdoors if I feel warm, secure, and enveloped in "Winter Beauty" indoors.

If you feel that same urge for comfort, here are a few ideas to help you prepare for those long, cold months ahead. Prepare now, and you will find ~ Mama Bear's Den is " Cottage Cozy!"

There are so many ways to create the perfect "Den", by adding scented candles, warm "jammies & slippers, filling the cupboards with your favorite tea's, coffee's, hot chocolate mixes for you and your baby bears, your favorite biscotti's... mmm... already perfection!

Let's not forget colorful vases throughout the house look charming filled with twigs and branches, sprayed white, then covered with glitter. Even silk flowers such as hydrangeas, roses, and daisies, with a touch of mica has a magical icicle look.

Vintage fabrics might seem pricey, but consider design punch. Toss a Matelasse cover over your sofa, chairs, etc..

A curtain panel should yield enough fabric for three 20-inch-square pillows. Shop for damaged or stained pieces that can be cut to make a pillow top; add new coordinating fabric on the back , look for brocades, damask, heavier fabrics, using winter white, blue, pink, green in color. Add vintage buttons, bits and baubles to the pillows.

Winter, Cottage Style, wouldn't be complete without Creamy white, silver blue, or the palest sage green Velvet drapes. Keep your lovely sheer panels up from summer,add vintage door knobs, above the windows, sew ribbon strips on top of panels, and tie to door knobs~ Tie panels back with a bouquet of glittered roses, twigs and berries.

Please remember, feeding your soul is as important as feeding your body

My Buying Trip to "The Springfield Flea Market" was more inspiring than I ever dreamed! I was so fortunate to find a wealth of treasures tooffer my customers. But, there's more... You see my sweet husband came with me on this trip. Now, if you're acquainted with my hubby at all, his agreeing to
my invitation, would lead you to suspect he received a head injury prior to my asking. I will admit, I did step back when he answered yes so quickly. I know he likes an occasional Flea Market...
Occasional meaning "once every four years whether we need it or not." But to even fathom that he would want to spend four days with me, on the road, in a hotel room, plus traipsing through "MILES" of vendor's and tables... Well, it simply defies all I believe in! lol... In those four days that we shared, Danny, "Mort" as we call him (family nickname.. don't ask!) surprised me at least 10 times each day! He actually enjoyed himself! He never complained when I purchased a writing desk and asked him to "run" it to the van. Then returning to find I purchased another large item, which required another trip to the vehicle. Did I mention his little "jaunt" was equivalent to....oh, maybe a 1/4 mile one way?? Two days in a row, he carried, he lugged and even pointed out "pretties" that I had overlooked.
I will say, our trip was very enlightening for both of us for almost the same reasons. Mort has a different outlook regarding my business since coming home. I noticed he is so energetic when he speaks of my shop now. When he saw MMP's advertisement in "Country Victorian", plus
Cathy's article featuring her sweet little Cottage, he realized my "Virtual" Shop is as real as my previous B&M shop. It is refreshing to know someone has faith in you and faith in your dream..
I want to "Feature" Mort in this blog.. To give him a much deserved pat on the back for all he's done to encourage me. I so appreciate his enthusiasm and his participation in my dream. In the first photo (above) you'll see some of the goodies we brought home from Ohio that evening... Mort unloaded all of them into the foyer by himself, while I staged the pieces and shot photo's of my goodies for
a future blog. Should I have been helping him unload you ask?? Was it really so important that I stage everything that evening?? Well, yes, of course it was! lol... Besides, I was beat and he looked like he had energy to spare! The next morning, I took more photo's. Here are a few... Mort had a great idea, he suggested we lay out all of my goodies that require base coats of white, in
"Assembly line Fashion" then he would spray paint everything at the same time...WHAT A GENIUS!! lol... I've chronicled the day in photographs, take a peek~

It's like a major event!...

Wow!

Okay, it took a little more time to paint all of this than the time it took to scroll through the pics..lol.. but you get the idea, my hubby is "The Man"!

Just as we were returning the newly painted pieces into the house, hubby pointed out the "Cottage Pink Clouds against the sweetest blue sky" What a Sunset! Yep Sweetie.... while you were busy painting our goodies... I made this "Sweet Shabby Chic Sunset" just for you !!

Roxie is, without a doubt all that you've imagined her to be and more! Her eyes twinkle as she speaks, she is full of energy and she has a genuine concern for your happiness and welfare.

This photo of Roxie is at our meet and greet at a neighborhood convenient mart near my hometown.... Followed by a jaunt to my "fav" Coffee Shop for a cup of java to help make the last 25 minute trip to my little village a bit more bearable ... I suggested taking a few minutes to sip coffee and get to know each other before heading home. lol!! Those few minutes became hours at the coffee shop. If my hubby hadn't called to check on us, we just might still be there! After arriving home, Roxie presented me with this sweet gift! Beautiful file folders to help me stay organized with my "New Biz" And another surprise, but that is for another day.....
The rest of the day was a blur... we laughed so much my cheeks hurt! Then we laughed some more! We inspired each other that afternoon and couldn't help but spend a few hours perfecting our "inspiration"... There was no stopping us! It felt so comfortable to work with Roxie, as if we've done this for years. I can't imagine what a dynamic duo we could be together if we lived closer~ Working at my desk with Roxie almost seemed surreal at times...I asked hubby to chronicle this moment by taking a photo! Can you see how inspired we look? Or could it be all the caffeine we consumed?
I had the pleasure of learning so much about Roxie that day. For instance, we both are "the middle child," in our families, each with 3 sisters and 1 brother... How great is that! I discovered Roxie loves sweets, but medically, she can't have sugar. Unfortunately, that bit of information didn't become evident until after I offered her the gooiest "Snicker Cake" for dessert. To add insult to injury, the cake was displayed so pretty on the kitchen table. She is so easy going, she simply made a joke about the cake, which sat inches from her, tempting her all day.. I feel so comfortable with Rox that I know I can tease with her and she really gets it!... Rox, I've been doing my best to take care of that problem for you!! I should have it whipped by the end of the day... hee-hee~

The hours went by so quickly, by late evening I suggested she sleep over, but she needed to get home to her sweet family.

I realized I had been a terrible host and forgot to feed her dinner!! lol.. So before sending my friend home, my husband grilled hamburgers for us. Since it was so late, I kept our menu as comfortable as our guest had made us feel.. Come to think of it, that is a great way to describe Sweet Roxie!!

~ She is like a picnic on a Sunday afternoon~
I made a great friend that day and look forward to many sweet moments like these again soon! I can't wait to meet at the Gift Mart in DC, we will have a ball. shopping together! Until we meet again my friend....

It's true! It's true! I can't begin to express my sheer delight that my favorite magazine is returning!

During the years that I owned my shop, Victoria Magazine was my biggest inspiration... my bible you might say!

I carried each edition with me loyally where ever I went. Just in case I might need to reference "a look" or "a designer" or to read about an entrepreneur such as myself...(I have to giggle when I put myself in the entrepreneur category, I guess I never felt worthy of the title~) Anyway, when a new copy would arrive in my mailbox, I would eagerly thumb through the pages, hoping to find as many lovely designers "pretties" as I could and squealing as I found one inspiration after another! It was so rewarding to have the opportunity to feature such talented artists in my shop! Oh the "Buyers Guide" was a treasure trove!

No doubt everyone in the free world already knows about "Victoria's" debut except me... I've always been a dollar short and a day late kinda gal and probably always will be. But it makes no difference to me when I discovered this wonderful news, just the fact that I know it now is all I need to know!! lol...Oh November, will you ever come???

ROBIN'S EGG BLUE

As I gathered all of my sweet treasures after arriving home from my flea market trip, I noticed one common thread.... Blue, the dearest Robin's egg Blue!

Is this a sign? Am I truly that blue without my Hailey Bailey?

Without a doubt I miss her, without a doubt she has a larger than life effect on me. But....me thinks I simply love the colours of Robin's Egg Blue and Pink together! My eye has a mind of it's own!! Many times as I wandered through the vendors, I noticed that unmistakable pull to the most wonderful blue, each in a different shade of blue, but Robin's egg blue just the same!

I discovered the sweetest woolen baby shoes, many Charlotte Becker prints that Sita and I share a love of... the dearest dishes with roses, salt and pepper shakers, some for the kitchen and others that will find a home in a babies sweet haven~
I found a ton of tables, and the greatest wrought iron bench. Many tables are in need of some serious shabbiness! Maybe a rose or two, or a tad bit of gorgeous added.. I will put the necessary "jewelry" on my newest finds, then impatiently wait for my new website to open! lol.. I'm sooo impatient! Have a great Sunday, and enjoy your week~ I intend on locking myself in my workroom until I produce something... anything!! My lamps aren't talking to me like Roxie's are, but my tables have been whispering back and forth between themselves, I just know their complaining about me! Ta for now~

Tomorrow, I am driving to Illinois to return my beautiful granddaughter to her sweet Mama. I have had the pleasure of spending the entire summer with Hailey, and can't believe our visit is coming to an end! Where in the world did the time go? I wish the other 10 months that she isn't with us, would go a bit quicker! It seems like an eternity until she returns each June.

I can and do, take the route of looking on the bright side each summers end... When I return Hailey, I'm able to visit my children, grandchildren, my sweet sister's, my mother, friends, aunt and cousins!

I will be cutting this trip short though, because I (and I'm squealing, you just can't hear me!!) am going to a "larger than huge... larger that gigantic... more like a

"GI-NORMOUS" Flea Market in Ohio on my way home!!! I will be dancing through the buildings and between the tables as I scour for as many treasures as I can find! I have so many items I'm looking for, vintage millinery roses, velvet roses, brooches, furniture, frames, umbrellas, dishes, rugs, vintage linens, etc!! I can't help but squeal whenever I imagine myself walking through the vendors!
I will have the pleasure of my husbands company when visiting this flea market again in September. He loves the markets as much as I do, plus, it will help to have extra hands when I manage to find that special something, and don't have the energy to walk back to the van!

I will attempt to list some new items in my eBay store this evening, I'm so far behind! But have 10 months to work hard while my sweet Hailey is in Illinois, that should help the time pass!

Jack Riley Pasfield

Welcome to the world my Sweet Jack!

I am so happy to announce the birth of "Jack Riley Pasfield" born July 23, 2007
I was given the greatest gift, my daughter and son-in-law decided they didn't want to know ahead of time the gender of the baby. When Sarah called to say she gave birth to a baby boy, she also had another surprise for me... She named my grandson after my father, which was a complete surprise to me until she announced that baby Jack was born.
I can't begin to express the emotions I felt as I held my Sweet Jack and gazed into his eyes.
I didn't have the pleasure of meeting my second grandchild "Hunter" until he was almost a month old, because he lives 900 miles away. But Jack only lives 150 miles away, so I was fortunate to meet him only hours after he was born...
I was able to spend six hours with him until Pappy pulled me away, then whisked me onto the interstate back home again! I will be back!!

Congratulations Sarah & Justin,
I am so proud of both of you!!

Do I have a ton to tell you! Well, a lot has transpired since I wrote last... I wanted to write this post to help everyone comfortably move with me into my transition from "The Purple Iris Collection" ~ To my new name ~

"Rose Petals & Blooms"

I've already changed my eBay ID to "rosepetalsandbloomslovesvintage", and would love to change my name on my storefront as well, unfortunately, because my web designer is so talented, her client list is a mile long. I am on her list, but it may be a month or two before she can get to me.

In the meantime, I would like to announce I will be opening another shop, in the coming months. Of course it will be called "Rose Petals & Blooms" . I will continue to sell on eBay and offer the same beautiful vintage items I have sold in the past..

Having my own website affords me the opportunity to offer my many one of a kind Pretties, that require so many more hours of time and detail.

I assure you, I will continue to design one of a kinds on eBay, but I will be sensible regarding the amount of hours I have in each treasure so it won't affect your pocketbook or mine, if your like me, you look for those scrumptious bargains.!

I will list a link to my new website on my
"About Me" page on eBay when things start jumping... I imagine it will take some time to setup the site.

So in the meantime, don't forget to visit me on eBay, I will be listing so many beautiful surprises all this week!

A SMALL PREVIEW

OF MY PAST CREATIONS

I would like to share with you, a few of my designs from the past... I work with clay and a secret application that allows me artistic freedom to embellish my treasures with my signature "Jewelry".

My Peachy Polka Dotted Jewelry Box

This jewelry box was so much fun to create I painted her a 1940's peachy pink sherbet~ I gave her polka dots and distressed her...
By giving "lil Dumplin" a clay frame and white stripes, just put her over the top! Sweetness and Charm....

~ ROMANTIC BEADED ROSE COTTAGE TABLE ART~

I love this sweet divider~ It almost seems to be decorated with vanilla ice cream! I used my clay "Jewelry" to give this little Sweetie a romantic feel...... I love adding my signature beads, and diamond pattern to my treasures~ My husband Danny built this "lil Sweetpea" then I gave her a "Rosie Finish"~

~ FERNS AND FAIRY FLOWERS~

These little Sweeties are so much fun for me to create! I love the vintage prints I find to enhance the already gorgeous frames....Each frame I am fortunate to find is steeped in character and charm even before I add my special touches ~I can't help but "Ooh & Ahhh" when I created the dainty coral ferns and foliage that trail up the post ~ With my Robin's Egg Blue distressed finish, I gave this Cottage Frame just what it was missing...

I've given this shelf my clay rose cameo's with bead work and my harlequin design to flank each side of the vintage rose print. Such a dear shelf with a ton of character!

Well, these are but a few of my many creations. I will show you more as I blog in the months to come. I hope you can visit my shop on eBay whenever you can. I thoroughly enjoy my time on eBay, I've met a ton of lovely women and men. I've been fortunate to have the kindest, sweetest customers!

I do love my shop, but I have to confess that I'm feeling a bit regretful... You see, I owned a shoppe in my small town in "98", which I loved and adored... Unfortunately, I couldn't keep afloat, and was forced to close my doors after two years.

From the moment I closed, I dearly missed my shoppe. I wasn't prepared to quit. I loved to create and I loved my customers!
Years later, I was still missing my shoppe, I knew I needed to get back into creating and sales. Knowing my deep love for my home and having no desire or need to leave it, I thought about selling on the internet.

In haste, I chose to try my hand at selling on eBay. Well, one thing is for sure, I never think then act...I simply dove in head first! LOL..
As I slowly evolved selling on eBay, I began questioning the name I chose for my shoppe. Too late I thought, you surely can't change it now!

As I've become reaquainted with myself, I know I need to follow my heart. There are a number of choices I've made that I am more than satisfied with... One is selling on eBay. With eBays help, I've met so many wonderful people, and I've gained so much confidence. My love for creating is back and in full force.. I've received so many emails from my customers expressing their happiness with my product and service. That is simply priceless!

But... isn't there always a but? I have always regretted the name I gave my shop, yes, "The Purple Iris Collection" is pretty, but, I have never painted an iris on anything! lol...
My love is and always will be roses!! I need to follow my heart, I need to rename myself so I can feel as if my shop follows my love for roses and represents my creations.

Last, but certainly not least, After I change my name, I would like to open another shoppe on the web.... I will not stop selling on eBay, I have too much fun doing what I do, but I would love to try my hand at having my own website, so I can introduce my special creations to more people.

I will post an announcement on my "About Me Page", on my storefront, and on my templates well in advance to help my customers with the transition... I hope to link customers to each shoppe when the time comes.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my thoughts.. I like thinking outloud, then putting those thoughts on paper. I am able to act on these thoughts much easier when I see them in print... Until we meet again, take great care~

I will be listing each of these today and this week... The Keepsake Box is already listed. What a sweet find that was! I found it at a flea market in the boonies of Ohio, the market was small, and set up in the country. The land housed two dilapated buildings, which were full of vendors items. Remarkably, each vendor's booth was spacious, well presented, and chocked full of just the type of goodies that make me squeal!!! lol....

I hope to list many of my "treasures" very soon, some need tender loving care, and that's where my husband comes into the picture! He's the man that I turn over my special finds to when I know I can't possibly give them what they need to shine.... When my husband Danny returns each little sweetie, they are rejuvenated! All the joints
are strong again, every loose
leg and joint are now the absolute tightest,
and they are now ready for, as I describe, each clay application, distressed painting, vintage wallpaper application, or vintage textiles as my "Jewelry"... Don't get me wrong, I love finding treasures that give me instant gratification, but it's the tired, worn, vintage treasure that looks worse for wear, that gives me the biggest satisfaction. When Danny and I finish with a piece we always smile, knowing that our little treasure shines again! I can't wait to post more surprises, please continue stopping by when you have a moment, you never know when I'll surprise you with a "Pretty" that simply knocks your socks off! lol!
KEEPSAKE BOX
STUNNING!
This little Sweetie was reborn with a lovely vintage postcard print in the frame which acts as a lid, replacing a cracked mirror with water damage. Inside are two compartments and another mirror on the backside of the lid... I did keep the original mirror on the inside, even though there was moderate "fogging", simply because it didn't take away from the beauty of this Keepsake Box, but enhanced it!
LOVELY ROSE DISH
By far my sweetest dish, simply because of the peachy pink roses that dance on this dish!! I'm crazy for all dishes with roses, scrollies, and the cutout handles! Gotta love anything Roses....
